The Structural Integration 10 Series Session 1 “Freeing the Breath” – By freeing the shoulders, rib cage, diaphragm, arms, back and hamstrings we are able to create space for the lungs to expand and contract freely. This increases circulation and respiration and prepares the body to accept the change of the next 9 sessions. Session 2 “Grounding the Legs” – This is a continuation of session 1 by decompressing and balancing the lower legs and feet. Addressing the feet, ankles, shins, knees and back we are able to create a base for the torso to rest upon. Balance is necessary from the ground up. Session 3 “Front to Back Outer Line” – This session brings length from the top of the pelvis to the 12th rib. By creating this space the legs, pelvis and torso can begin to work with more efficiency and grace. This session helps to differentiate front to back along the body’s outer vertical line. Session 4 “Front to Back Inner Line” – The first 3 sessions have allowed space to free the Core. Balance, freedom and awareness are brought to the pelvis in this session by releasing the inner leg from the pelvis. Session 5 “Pelvic Balance” – The goal of this session is to restore balance between the abdominal muscles and the deep hip flexors. These structures have apposing pulls on the pelvis. >>> |
This balance, once achieved, can release restrictions on internal organs allowing them to settle along the internal line. Session 6 “Free the Sacrum” – It’s Greek translation means “holy bone” and it is quite an important piece of the puzzle. Its connection to the spine, pelvis, and femur make it a keystone in the human body. The focus of this section is to free the sacrum to further achieve balance. Session 7 “Head and Neck Balance” – This is the last of the core decompression sessions. Its focus is on the head, neck, face, shoulders and sinuses. As the restrictions in the cranium and neck are released a greater symmetry can be both felt and observed. This is the final step before change is integrated. Sessions 8 and 9 “Integration” – One of these sessions will be a lower body session and the other an upper body session. These two sessions fully integrate the many small changes into a larger scale front to back, side to side, in to out balance. Session 10 “Finishing Touches” – This session brings closure to integrating the many body segments. The body is as close to balance as can be achieved at the time. For the next 6 – 12 months your body will continue to change as it adapts to its new place in gravity, often bringing further balance. |

Who does Structural Integration Help? Whether you are a desk jockey, work on a job site, save lives in a hospital, teach America’s youth, or running a household your body needs to be in balance. The repetitive motions and stresses of each of these very important jobs cause the human body to drop into an imbalanced structure. If you add that to gravity pushing down on you then many of the pains you experience on a daily base aren’t so hard to grasp. Our world today is not made to work with the body so the body needs tuning up now and again to work with the world. You will find your job and life easier to handle when you no longer need to force yourself to stand up straight. Structural Integration is not a replacement for exercise and healthy eating, but you may find yourself more willing to walk to the store and buy an apple if you know it isn’t going to hurt when you stand up. I’m here to change your life, not just your day!. |
What is a Session Like? Each session is hands on and interactive with the client. Sessions are performed in a private room making use of a massage table and a Structural Integration bench. Male clients are in boxer briefs or basketball shorts; female clients a sports bra and workout shorts is preferable but the work can be done with loose fitting clothes (we work within your comfort level.) The work itself is done within a person’s tolerance level, often times feeling great as tissues and muscles are released from their tight restrictions. In some areas of the body where tissue is particularly adhered a feeling of stretching or a light burning will be felt as the tissue is lengthened and freed (this feeling is common and perfectly normal.) Clients are directed through a series of movements as the SI practitioner holds the tissue so that the client is freed through their full range of motion, also allowing the client to control the amount of sensation they feel by how fast they move. Although not required, pictures are highly suggested to be taken before the first session and after each following session so both the client and SI practitioner may track the progress. These pictures are the property of the client and are protected by federal privacy law unless otherwise released by the client. Single sessions are available for spot work, but to feel the best results the full ten sessions is suggested. Each session builds upon the previous to create total balance.. |
